Create a prototype lawn care business.

Create your lawn care business as if it is the prototype for a future franchise.

Standardize everything. Equipment. Backup parts. How the work gets done. Uniforms.

Customers may think their house is unique and should be treated uniquely. Wrong. Every house should be maintained the same way. Cut the same way. Weed wacked the same way. Blown off the same way.

Create a standardized system. If customers tell you how to cut their lawn, then they don’t fit into your system. If every customer walked into McDonald’s and ordered their hamburger a unique way, then McDonald’s would go out of business. Each hamburger would take longer to make, cost more, and it would not be a franchise.

I highly recommend Michael Gerber's book, The E-Myth, because he discusses why most small businesses fail.
