grass build up NEW
by: Thomas in CT.

I have the quest 48". I'm on my third year and mow about 2 acers. This has been the dryest summer in years may be even the dryest. I can't mow half the yard with out having to clean the deck. I paid almost $6000.00 for this machine. I have tryed high lift blades, gator blades and stock blades still the build up is unbelievable. The best thing I tried is a old farmers trick. Use old oil. After a good cleaning use a paint brush and paint the oil under the deck. The moisture of the grass slips on the oil allowing me to mow the whole 2 acers without having to stop. I still have to clean the deck before the next mowing. Its nothing but a pain in the butt. Very disapointed. I'm so sorry i bought this thing.

Quest Deck Design NEW
by: MRW

I have a 2007 Quest with a fabricated trivantage(48) deck with similar problems with grass building up underneath.I took the discharge chute off as soon as I got it home which seemed to help some.I even spoke to the dealer about the issue. He suggested high lift blades would remedy the problem.I mow 3+ acres and thought this may be the last mower that I would have to buy,but i'm very unhappy with the grass caking under the deck.I have to stop at least 4 times and put the mower on ramps to clean the bottom of the deck. The mower is solid and the deck is well built and durable but the design is inferior. One of my neigbors has a scag(freedom) mower and the other has a Ferris 48 inch cut. They never complain about grass sticking underneath the deck.

Grass clogging NEW
by: Anonymous

Min is doing the same thing. Cuts great for about 20 minutes. It's all downhill after that though. Most of the time, I cannot make a lap around my yard without having to stop and shake the deck to let as much of the grass fall out as possible.

grass clumping NEW
by: Anonymous

For the money Exmark is a joke. Less than 22hrs on my lazer z and grass was built up so much it was barely cutting. Has hi lift blades. Cleaned deck and ran it about 3 hours grass is clumping already. Very light in the front and electronic fuel guage hasn't worked since day of purchase. Exmark fep and dealee say sorry no fixes for this stuff but thanks for your money. Should've demonstrated the mower first. Exmark cuts like crap and is way to expensive.
