Hustler Fastrac 48 inch Mower Review

by Carol Palmer
(Joelton TN)

My hustler does not discharge the grass. It collects under the deck and then when you turn off the blade (which you have to do often because of the collection) it dumps a large 4 ft pile of chewed grass that looks like a cow pile.

You can not cut if the grass is the least bit damp, the collection of grass is unbearable, and takes forever to mow your lawn because you have to stop so frequently to turn off the blades. -Homeowner

Sorry you are having these problems.

Only other suggestion I can make is to contact the HUSTLER company (Customer Support?) direct, instead of dealing with a dealer.

I do not have a mulching fastrac . a friend had a different mower and his company told him to remove the baffels under the deck. the hustler fastrac baffels are welded on and not bolted like my friend. I have argued this problem with the dealer their reply this doesn't happen. but I couldn't help but notice that they now have very few hustlers on their lot. they have gone to cub cadets

Sounds as if one or more of the mulching barriers are in place.

Try to see if you can look across the underside of the deck and see three cutting blades at the same time. If so, then there is some other problem; if not, then see about removing the barriers (they are held on by one bolt on top of the mulching barrier for the left-most and middle barriers (as you sit on the driver's seat, and one on top and one on the side for the right-most barrier by the discharge chute.
