Hustler Raptor 60 inch 2014 Mower Review

by Chuck

This mower has given me nothing but trouble. I purchased it in April of 2014 and within 2 months, the clutch idler bracket broke off when blades were disengaged. When I took it to the shop they said it would take a week to 10 days to get the part in and repair it. It was 5 weeks before I got it back. While the mower was in the shop they were supposed to investigate a clinking noise coming from the bottom of the mower...apparently they didn't.

Season 2, it goes back in the shop because the bracket broke again while disengaging the blades at low rpm...again 4-5 weeks in the shop.

Season 3, beginning of season the electric clutch burned out back to the shop for another 4-5 weeks..by the way, this eliminated the clinking noise that had been there from the beginning. August of 3rd season, started to mow the yard, had to stop, idled the engine down and once again, the bracket breaks tearing out the wiring. So tomorrow it's off to the shop again.

I would not recommend this mower to anyone. I wish I had never bought it!

Back from the shop again. NEW
by: Chuck

Just got it back from the shop. This time they did factory upgrades to see if that would solve the problems...only time will tell.

Deck Leveling NEW
by: Anonymous

Bought the Hustler Raptor with 52" Deck Mowed first time the linkage for deck leveling came off could not find. Replaced all linkage and it will not stay tight at all. I have mowed four times with the mower and cannot finish the lawn. You can level the deck and tighten all the linkage connections as tight as you would dare for fear of breaking bolts, mow for about fifteen minutes and the cam comes loose and starts scalping the lawn on the cam adjustment side of the deck. Appears to be a big design issue

Looks like customer service is not a concern for manufacturer!
