Hustler sd54, 2015 model Mower Review
Cuts great. Good reaction of transmission. However, must constantly move right lever as it pulls left VERY often. This slows forward movement.
Deck holding mechanisms on rear have come out of holes that the pins hold up the deck with numerous times. Poor design in my opinion. This REALLY IS A PROBLEM. IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY MANUFACTURER!
Kawasaki engine is great.
I hope the manufacturer will recall units or send repair personnel to fix this problem, I am sure mine is NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS DECK HANGER PROBLEMS AS THE STEEL IS VERY SOFT AND PLIABLE SO THAT ANY BOUNCING WHILE CUTTING CAUSES PINS TO STRETCH OUT THE STEEL THAT HOLDS THE LEVELING PINS IN PLACE. I OPEN THE METAL UP THEN TRY TO GET PINS BACK IN THE HOLE AND BEND THE METAL INWARD TO HOLD PINS IN PLACE. AGAIN THIS IS A POOR DESIGN FOR HOLDING THE REAR DECK AND LEVELING, AS SHORTLY AFTER GETTING THIS MOWER THE PINS CAME LOOSE ON BOTH SIDES WITH LEFT SIDE SCALPING TO THE DIRT WITH NO WARNING, IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I HAD BACKED THE UNIT UP.....IT WOULD HAVE DUG IN AND FLIPPED OVER POSSIBLY CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH!!!! I DID NOT TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AS I HAVE NO TRAILER TO TRANSPORT IT OR THE TIME TO TRAVEL TO GAINESVILLE FROM BOWMAN AND THEN RETURN TO PICK IT UP LATER WHEN REPAIRED, IT IS UNDER WARRANTY SO AT SOME TIME I WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT IN.
But, other than the deck coming loose five times in the year and the constant movement of the right transmission lever to continue going straight forward, I think it is a great mower.
Hopefully someone with Hustler will contact me AND ALL OTHERS WITH THIS HANGER PROBLEM AND OFFER A REPAIR TO ASSURE OWNERS SATISFACTION AND SAFETY!
